SenyonChoe Senyon Choe is a professor of Salk Institute, USA and a founding director of joint Center for Biosciences, Korea. He and his colleagues founded DDColl (Drug Discovery Collaboratory) to broker the drug discovery collaboration among industry, academia, and government on a global scale.
Roger Guillemin Roger Guillemin is a Distinguished Professor at Salk Instiute. He received the Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology in 1977 for discoveries that laid the foundation for brain hormone research. His work brought to light an entire new class of substances known for the regulation of growth, development, reproduction and responses to stress.
JamesMcKerrow James H. McKerrow, MD, PhD, is the dean of the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego. As an expert in the area of neglected tropical diseases, his research in natural product research and drug discovery and development helps bring together cross-disciplinary researchers in global health, infectious diseases, biology and chemistry and drug development programs.

Principal Scientists

Luis Luis Esquivies graduated from UCSD with a PhD in Biology. He is developing a genetically-engineered Bacteroides (GEB) to create a safe and effective therapeutic agent which will act as a vaccine against infectious diseases.
witek-CROP Witek Kwiatkowski is a research faculty at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, USA. He studies protein-protein interaction and their biological function, and engineers TFG-beta signaling systems to develop biologics with his broad background in physics, X-ray crystallography, NMR, and protein chemistry.
Lindert CROP Steffen Lindert is a computational chemist at the Pharmacology department of the University of California, San Diego. He combines enhanced molecular sampling techniques and state-of-the-art virtual screening methods to incorporate protein flexibility in computer-aided drug design.
Innokentiy Maslennikov Innokentiy Maslennikov is a research faculty member at the Salk institute for Biological Studies, La Jolla, USA, and an Assistant Professor at the joint Center for Biosciences, Songdo, South Korea. He is developing novel methods and approaches for structural studies of membrane proteins by combining cell-free expression and selective isotope labeling known as Combinatorial Dual-isotope Labeling (CDL).
wang-yiCROP Yi Wang is an Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the department of Physics. She is a computational specialist in the area of molecular dynamics simulations of membrane proteins, receptor-ligand interaction, and engineering antimicrobial peptides.

Panel Experts

Christian Klammt Christian Klammt is currently a Senior Research Associate at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, USA. He is a pioneer in cell-free expression of integral membrane proteins with an extensive background in protein biochemistry, NMR spectroscopy and the study of protein-protein interaction and function.
mario Mario Kuo is a protein chemist and microbiologist of JCB. He studies protein-protein interaction and biological function of TFG-beta signaling systems. He mainly uses the RASCH technology to develop synthetic biologics to discover tools as protein therapeutics and also for ex vivo cell conditioning of stem cells.
Dawn Verdugo Dawn Verdugo is an infectious disease molecular epidemiologist. She is on the board of Children Affected By HIV/AIDS (CHABHA), the Samuel Lawrence Foundation and Global Health Rendezvous (GHR). Through her work to modernize pathogen detection, she is defining the role genomics can play in global health.
